The TRIO Wolf Creek Distance Learning Charter School celebrated its commencement exercises for the Class of 2025 on Friday evening, June 6th at the Chisago Lakes High School Performing Arts Center. Wolf Creek had 38 graduates participate in the ceremony while 25 more chose not to participate in this event. Each diploma granted symbolizes the individual achievements of the students at Wolf Creek.
The public charter school is located on Liberty Lane in Chisago City and works as a team to ensure students have the support needed to succeed and graduate. The Wolf Creek Learning Manager model ensures that each student has a trusted adult as they progress throughout high school. The school mission emphasizes personalized and differentiated instruction in many ways.
The ceremony was led by director Mike Hamernick and had many personal touches. There were three student speakers from the class of 2025: April Mazzucco, Jordana Iverson, and Amanda Christensen, who made the audience laugh and cry with their remembrances of high school, our Registrar, Randi Stream, accompanied on piano by CJ Hanson, Learning Manager, performed “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. The Language Arts Learning Managers, Lori Nelson and Chloe Jackson read introductions and plans for the graduates as they received their diplomas.
Director Hamernick noted in his speech that problem solving, hard work and kindness are important values to have when entering the adult world. He expressed the importance of leaning on these values when planning the next years of their lives. These items were reminders for the graduates of the role they play in our community as alumni.
There were many family members, friends and supporters of the graduates in the audience. Director Hamernick invited them to cheer and applaud for their students as the names were called and the group was very vocal about their pride in their graduates.
Wolf Creek wishes to thank all the families and friends who have supported our graduates and allowed them to get to this place in their high school careers. We know our graduates will go forth and change the world!
