Graduates were given a personalized swag bag full of graduation celebration items and accompanied by a memory stick loaded with a picture slide show of the graduates. Below are a few excerpts from the commencement address by Director of the Charter School, Tracy Quarnstrom.
We know you will do great things as Wolf Creek alumni because of how you have shown us your skills and strengths throughout your time with us. We look forward to seeing you on social media or in-person and hearing about your future pursuits.
We want to recognize the resilience of our class of 2021 and take a moment to reflect on the past 15 months. It has not been an easy time for our nation or any of us. Our students and staff were well prepared for virtual learning but even in this time, we learned a lot about ourselves and each other. We hope we will keep some of these lessons as we move forward. We learned that giving grace and recognizing that you don’t know what others are facing is important in life. We learned that giving people space, both literally and figuratively, is important at times. We learned that time spent with family and friends should be cherished as you don’t know when you might not have that time again. Lastly, we learned that we should be proud of all we accomplished during this time, as well as the resiliency that was shown by so many!
Tonight we honor the Wolf Creek Online Class of 2021! We honor your resilience and perseverance. We honor your ability to make school a priority in hard times, to look for support and comfort when needed, and your ability to continue pushing toward your goals of earning a high school diploma.
A beautiful performance of “Imagine” by John Lennon was sung by Wolf Creek staff member Randi Stream and accompanied by staff member CJ Hanson. Tracy Quarnstrom, Wolf Creek Director and member of the Chisago Lakes Lions, and Brenda Swanson, Dean of Students, awarded a Lions scholarship to Tess Cody and the Wolf Creek Alumni scholarship to Talia Martinson.
The Wolf Creek staff and school board would like to congratulate the Wolf Creek Online Class of 2021 and wish all the graduates much success in their future endeavors and a lifetime of learning and happiness.
