The TRIO Wolf Creek Distance Learning Charter School celebrated its commencement
exercises for the class of 2024 on Friday evening, June 7th at the Chisago Lakes High School
Performing Arts Center. Wolf Creek had 35 graduates participate in the ceremony while many
others graduated this year and chose not to participate in this event. Each diploma granted
symbolizes the individual achievements of the students at Wolf Creek. Some students graduate
early while others have seen their graduation date pass. The public charter school is located on
Liberty Lane in Chisago City and works as a team to ensure students have the support needed
to succeed and graduate. The Wolf Creek Learning Manager model ensures that each student
has a trusted adult as they progress throughout high school. The school mission emphasizes
personalized and differentiated instruction in many ways.
The ceremony was led by director Tracy Quarnstrom and had many personal touches. Our
Administrative Assistant Randi sang a beautiful rendition of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus while
our music teacher and technology lead, CJ Hanson accompanied her on the keyboard. Our
Language Arts Learning Managers, Chloe Jackson and Lori Nelson, read introductions and plans
for the graduates as they received their diplomas. The ceremony was focused on what really
matters: the students.
Director Quarnstrom noted in her graduation speech that change is inevitable in life, although
scary at times, we must embrace new opportunities and challenges. She expressed a belief in
the graduates as they embrace resilience, perseverance, and the ability to pivot in their future
endeavors.
It was noted in the director’s speech that embracing family and friends is more important than
ever in our history. It was also noted that kindness and relationships are what really matter
above all else. It is a part of the Wolf Creek mission and strategic plan to embrace differences
and welcome all with kindness and acceptance. These items were reminders for the graduates
of the role they play in our community as alumni.
Many of the graduates had numerous family and supporters in the audience for the
commencement ceremony. Director Quarnstrom encouraged families to cheer and applaud their
graduates several times during the ceremony and the group was very vocal about their pride in
their graduates.
Wolf Creek wishes to thank all the families and friends who have supported our graduates and
allowed them to get to this place in their high school careers. We know our graduates will go out
and change the world.
